Reddish-purple leaves emerge in spring, then turn dark green as white flowers appear. Leaves turn orange, scarlet or purple in autumn, and red berries are often visible against the first winter snow. Needs full sun. Tolerates a wide range of soil types and conditions. This important nectar source produces abundant berries that are eaten by birds and mammals throughout winter.
