Description

(Amelanchier laevis) Height: 30'

Prefers full sun to light shade and rich, moist loam with plenty of organic matter. Produces a profusion of airy white flowers in early spring. In early summer edible berries follow: maroon-purple fruits resembling blueberries. Berries are eaten by ruffed grouse, several varieties of woodpecker, dove, and many other birds.
