Description

(Amelanchier canadensis) Height: 25'

Also known as Shadbush or Juneberry, this native prefers moist, rich loam with added organic matter. Full sun to light shade. Airy clusters of white flowers appear in early spring, followed by edible blueberry-like, maroon-purple fruits in early summer. Attractive to birds including dove, ruffed grouse, several species of woodpeckers and many others. Berries used in pies, jams and jellies.
