This fast-growing member of the Magnolia family is one of North America's largest native deciduous trees. Its distinctive tulip-shaped flowers appear in late spring and are a nectar source for ruby-throated hummingbirds. Wood is easy to work and often used in furniture and cabinet framing. Needs full sun; prefers a deep, moist, well-drained soil.
